On March 8, 2018, GLWC Management Committee and Strategic Advisory Roundtable Members met in Bonn, Germany at FSC offices to discuss the future direction of the GLWC. The two day session allowed an important opportunity for members to reflect on our accomplishments thus far and to assess priorities as the GLWC continues to advance on its mission and vision.
Currently, our original priorities of establishing a shared definition of living wage and supporting the development of an accepted methodology as developed by Richard Anker and Martha Anker have been quite successful and allow room to reprioritize future work. The GLWC has established that it continues to have work to do in creating a sustainable model of operation, updating benchmark estimates, and scaling the use of the Anker methodology while not diminishing the high quality work that is essential to the successful uptake of GLWC Anker Methodology benchmark studies. It will follow-up by producing clear workplans, budgets, and funding proposals to enable this incredibly valuable and important work.
The GLWC also recognizes the continued role it plays in advocacy for living wages globally and specifically for consensus and collaboration around Anker Methodology benchmark studies. Over the next several months the GLWC will work to create a clear advocacy plan to continue to advance this high quality research for action.
We thank all of our members for their continued valuable input in advancing wages for workers around the world.
