Since 2013, the Global Living Wage Coalition has been at the forefront of driving knowledge-based living wage action in supply chains. Following the GLWC’s restructure into two independent but complementary entities (the Anker Research Institute and GLWC Action Network), the coalition is expanding!
New members bring significant opportunities to extend the Coalition’s thinking and action into new sectors and supply chains, and to strengthen opportunities for learning and collaborative thinking about strategies to achieve progressively higher wages.
THE ACTION NETWORK WELCOMES FAIR TRADE USA
Today, the GLWC proudly welcomes Fair Trade USA into its Action Network. Fair Trade USA work to promote sustainable livelihoods and safe working conditions, protection of the environment, and strong, transparent supply chains.
Their Standards require that employers understand what a living wage is and conduct a gap analysis of current wages. Fair Trade USA is also working on ways to support producers in using the gap analysis to collaborate with workers and buyers in closing the wage gap.
Here’s what they have to say about joining the GLWC Action Network, in the words of their Chief Impact Officer, Clay Brown:
For the last 24 years Fair Trade USA has worked to empower farmers, workers, and fishers in supply chain arounds the world to fight poverty, improve lives, and protect the environment. Over the past 5 years we have worked to raise awareness of living wage across all our programs. We are excited to be working with the GLWC Action Network and all of the Coalition members to share learnings, enhance credibility, and increase sector engagement on living wage issues.
